Critique Reflection

Overall, I believe my critique went well. I got some very useful advice and I realized what things that I needed to change and improve that I didn't notice at first. I also learned that my composition was good which made me happy.

Some areas of improvement is my lighting. I need to improve my lighting in pictures so that when I edit it in Lightroom I don't have to up the exposure so much that it makes the picture grainy. This piece of advice was so helpful because I never really noticed how grainy my picture was on my computer so I didn’t realize it was a problem. I also realized that I should have moved that blue can that was in my picture so that it doesn't distract people from the picture. Presentation wise, I think I should have been a little louder and explained more of my picture. Next time, I want to learn more photography words so that I can accurately explain my photograph to my audience. Words like, composition, depth of field, Iso, White Balance, etc.

What surprised me was how many things I didn’t notice. For example, There was a tiny blue can on the table that was already there when I got there. I didn't think to move it when I was taking the picture and it never really stood out to me that much until I had it pointed out. Also how grainy the picture was. Which is all really helpful for my next project because lighting is truly really important in a picture. I want to get better at lighting and also editing skills because I could have done some more little edits here and there. And I liked the way some other people edit their pictures like in black or white or simply highlighting one color and making it brighter. I realized that I could edit my pictures in a different way than just increasing the exposure.

I picked this picture for my best picture so far because I love how all the colors go together. It’s all dark and gray colors besides the blue can. I love the feeling it gives off like an old time-y vibe. I also really like the hints of light it has and how it reflects off of the silver chairs. I really love the colors and composition.
